What’s wrong with blackheads?

Blackheads are sneaky. Whatever care you take for your skin, it sometimes shows up… and often at the worst time. If you’ve finally made up your mind to rid yourself of those nasty little invaders, these home remedies should help. Acne comes in many different forms, and not all of them respond to home treatments, warns New Jersey dermatologist Alexander Dane.

Blackheads are different. “For acne that mostly manifests as blackheads, there are some great home remedies that can reduce the number of clogged pores,” he observes. Do you like popping your blackheads?

If so, know that you are not alone: Here are some of those remedies that can help you roll back blackheads.

How to treat blackheads: baking soda and water

Baking soda is so common in kitchens that you might not know you can use it for blackheads. Dr. Dane says baking soda helps neutralize any pH imbalances your skin may be suffering from, and it can also work very well as an exfoliant to remove impurities, fatty substances, and dead cells.

To use on blackheads, mix 30 ml (2 tbsp) of baking soda and 30 ml (2 tbsp) of water to form a paste. Massage this paste onto your face, rinse off with warm water, then make sure to moisturize well afterward. This mixture may dry out your skin, so it’s best to use it no more than twice a week.

How to treat blackheads: a homemade exfoliant

Brown sugar, honey, and lemon juice are the basis of this exfoliating lotion that you can use on your blackheads present on the chin and on the nose. Dr. Dane recommends mixing 15 ml (1 tbsp) of brown sugar, 30 ml (2 tbsp) of lemon juice, and 15 ml (1 tbsp) of honey. Once everything is well mixed, apply the mixture to your face in circular motions, massage in five minutes before rinsing and applying a moisturizer.

How to treat blackheads: tea tree essential oil

Specialists say you can apply tea tree oil directly to areas affected by blackheads like the chin and nose. Tea tree essential oil is found in many products, such as soaps and creams.

How to treat blackheads: green tea

No, you are not going to drink this green tea, but rather put it on your face! Dr. Dane swears that green tea can help your skin produce less sebum and have great antioxidant properties. Mix 5 ml (1 teaspoon) of dried green tea leaves and 5 ml (1 teaspoon) of water and massage this mixture into the affected areas for three minutes, suggests the doctor.

Then rinse off and apply moisturizer. This treatment can be used two to three times a week.

How to treat blackheads: kasthuri turmeric

“The antibacterial, antifungal, and anti-inflammatory properties of turmeric make it very useful in the war against blackheads,” says Dr. Dane. However, it is important to note that regular turmeric can turn the skin yellow, which is why it is best to take kasthuri turmeric. ” Mix 15 ml (1 tbsp.) Of kasthuri turmeric and 15 ml (1 tbsp) of water or coconut oil to form a paste, apply it to the face and let stand 10 to 15 minutes before rinsing.

How to treat blackheads: coconut oil

Blackheads are mostly found on the chin and around the mouth, but they can also appear on the rest of your body. Exfoliating your skin to get rid of dead skin cells can help, says Whitney Bowe, a dermatologist in New York City. She recommends mixing coconut oil and sugar to make a homemade scrub.

How to Treat Blackheads: Homemade Cleaning Strips

If you’re looking for a way to get rid of blackheads on your nose, you’ve probably seen cleaning strips in the store.

Know that you can make your own at home with milk and honey. Milk contains lactic acid, which helps remove dead skin and fat, while honey is an antibacterial, Dr. Dane tells us.
To make your own cleaning strips, heat 15 ml (1 tbsp) of milk and 15 ml (1 tbsp) of organic honey in the microwave for about ten seconds.

Once this mixture has cooled sufficiently, Dr. Dane recommends smearing it on the areas of your skin where the blackheads are and covering it with clean cotton strips.
Leave to penetrate for about 15 minutes before gently removing the strips, rinsing, and moisturizing your face.

How to treat blackheads: a face mask

The natural face mask can easily decrease the appearance of blackheads. Dr. Bowe’s method just asks you for egg white and a tissue. Start by whipping the egg white until stiff before applying it to your clean skin. Then cover your face (but not your eyes and mouth) with a tissue before spreading a second layer of egg white. Leave the mask on for about twenty minutes before simply removing it.
